FAITH AND PRACTICE
“WHEN GOOD QUAKERS GO BAD”

Faith & Practice is a group of friends who met at Doylestown Friends Meeting in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. They played music together informally for many years, and decided to form a band in the spring of 1998.

Since then Faith and Practice has performed for scores of community events, meetings, parties, weddings, music festivals and other groups. Recent venues include: Doylestown’s First Night 2000 and 2001, Bethlehem’s First Night 2002, 2003, and 2004, the Patchwork Coffeehouse in Perkasie, the Moorestown Meeting Vocal Arts Festival, and opening at concerts by Bill Staines, John Flynn, Lui Collins, and Bob Franke. They have become known for their energetic and irreverent performances, with audiences singing and clapping along to old favorites, new finds and some wicked originals.

The band members all sing and play a variety of instruments: guitar, banjo, harmonica, fiddle, bodhran and a cornucopia of percussion instruments. Their eclectic repertoire includes bluegrass, gospel, pop, blues, and all kinds of folk music.

The band has five members: Guitar players Rich Laughlin and Gretta Stone, Gene Taylor on fiddle and harmonica, Jacob Stone on the five string banjo, Gretchen Castle on percussion, and everybody on vocals. F&P can provide a complete sound system for your event. For more information about Faith and Practice, contact Gretta Stone at 215-345-0575 or gs29@comcast.net, or check out their page at www.bucksfolk.org. Their first CD will be ready in early 2005; a demo recording is available on request.
